11 weeks + A Walker

OH. MY. GOODNESS.  This pregnancy has been so much harder than my first. Since my last post, it's been about 4 weeks of complete and utter sickness.  We're talking nausea all day, almost every day. And even some puking here and there too.  NOT FUN.  I've tried zophran and phenigran...the stuff they give cancer patients on chemo...and nothing. Nada. Doesn't work.  I had another Dr. appt. today and my doctor gave me some vitamins with ginger to help, so we'll see. I'll do ANYTHING at this point to feel normal again. Since we found out, I've been practically useless at home. Poor Naomi has stayed with the grandparents way more than she would have had her mother been able to actually care for her without feeling like vomiting all day.  I was actually feeding her lunch the other day and just seeing her food made me puke. UGH. Ok, enough with the pity party (except, it really does suck and I'll take all the compassion, prayers, spells, etc. I can get. I told you I'd do anything to feel normal, didn't I?)

Naomi is now WALKING!!  It's so stinkin' cute, but she is into everything! She also has 6 teeth total now and is eating like a big girl.  I have been so sick lately that I haven't gotten my camera out to capture any of this cuteness, please forgive me! :)  And that's it for now!

Ooops, We Did It Again!

I'm writing this post on Aug. 13, 2012, just 2 days after I took the pregnancy test that confirmed what we thought might be true.  I started feeling really tired and having bouts of nauseousness last week, and after not having a period for over 2 months (which can be normal while still breastfeeding) Matt suggested I take a test.  BAM! Those 2 lines showed up faster than I could get my hands washed! hahaha...Anyway, we are sooo thrilled to be adding another member to our family in just 8 1/2 short months!  We haven't told anyone yet, which is SO hard for me! But I wanted to write this post (which I  won't be publishing till after the news is out) so I could document this journey yet again.  I've been frantically planning Naomi's first birthday party these last couple weeks and it's set for this Saturday.  I think we may make the announcement then since we'll have all our family and some of our closest friends there.  We haven't totally decided yet though.  But oh my goodness, I am SO stinkin' excited!  Still in a little disbelief, but these symptoms are getting stronger by the day which is making it very clear that little peanut is there!  We already love you and are so blessed by God to get to be your parents! We cannot wait to meet you sweet baby!

In other news, Naomi has 3 teeth coming in AND she has taken about 4 steps by herself! I'm gonna miss that sweet, gummy smile :) She is growing up so much faster than I'd like, but everyone always tells you that. I love making her laugh, her scrunched-up-face smiles, her open-mouthed kisses (please never stop!), her high pitched coos, sweet little dimples and her big, beautiful blue eyes. We are so blessed to have such a sweet baby girl and I cannot believe you are almost 1 :(

Stay little.

Love,
Mom

10 months!

Naomi is 10 months old.  Time is flying. I still can't believe I have a 10 month old.  It just sounds so...old! Haha!  These last few months have been super packed with moving (twice), my sister's wedding, going to see friends in Tahlequah, my other sister's baby shower, training for a 10k, our 5 year anniversary, and lots more.  When we moved from Texas back to OK, we still had a month left on our apt. lease, so we decided to leave most of our stuff there and live out of our suitcases at my mom's house until we could find a house. Luckily we found an awesome house just 2 weeks after moving home and got to move in at the end of May which worked out perfectly.  We love it!

The weekend we moved home we also went to visit our Tahlequah family. We are crazy for trying to cram in everything like that, but we made it happen somehow!  It was soo good to see our friends, Brent and Cindy and meet their precious little boy Eli.  And the Lynch boys were absolutely smitten with Naomi, which melted my heart!  Little Sankie and Owen loved to hug her and give her kisses and Sankie liked to smell her head! Haha!  It was so sweet :)  We also loved getting to see the Murray's and little Miss Emersyn who is just a couple months younger than Naomi.  They were so cute playing together and we got some great photos.  I also loved getting to chat about this new stage of life we are all in now!  Hopefully, since we're only an hour away now, we'll get to see more of our Tquah family.

McKenzie's wedding was the weekend after we moved home and it was absolutely beautiful! She spent hours upon hours making all of her decor.  That girl is so talented! The week leading up to the wedding was a little hectic, obviously, but overall everything went smoothly.  Kenzie was a gorgeous bride and the wedding was so much fun! Two days later, her and Nathan headed to El Paso, TX where he is based and they will be living for the next few years.

Last year on Memorial Day weekend we were moving TO Texas. And this year, on the same weekend, we were moving back. Crazy. We (me, Naomi, and my sister Katie) drove down early Friday morning in order to get some work done on one of our cars (we had a free alignment at a shop down there). Matt, my dad, and Kyle all came down later that day and by 10pm we were all packed in the Uhaul. Since it was so late and we were all exhausted, we decided to stay the night with our friends, Tyler and Vicky, and leave out early the next morning. We are so thankful for our family and friends who helped us move (again!). We couldn't have done it without them!

Several weeks ago we had a baby shower for my sister Chelsey who is having her little girl, Willow, this week!!  She, of course, got TONS of clothes :)  It's hard not to buy clothes for a sweet little girl!  I cannot wait for Willow to get here! Maybe it will hold me over until I can have another one ;)

At the end of May, Matt and I started training with Fleet Feet for a 10k. Really, I wanted to do it and dragged Matt into it, but now he is thankful I did! :)  We have 3 weekly runs with 2 lower mileage evening runs during the week and our longer runs on Saturday mornings.  We've been pretty consistent to make the evening runs, but it's been a little more difficult to make the morning ones since we have to find someone crazy enough to get up before dawn to watch Naomi.  Our families have been AWESOME in taking turns watching her for us while we train.  If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be able to do it (together, at least)! This past Saturday was our longest run yet at 6.2 miles and we were actually able to go.  It was long and hard, but finishing felt SO GOOD! I have never run that far in my life so the feeling of accomplishment was awesome.  Our race is in 3 weeks and I can't wait!

June 23rd marked our 5 year anniversary! We headed down to Dallas and hung out with our friends at a baseball game, then shopped at the Galleria, stayed in a super nice hotel, went out to eat, saw some more friends, shopped at the outlet mall and came home.  Great packed-full-of-fun weekend :)

It's just crazy how much Naomi has grown and learned in the last few months! She learned to sit up from a crawling position, pull up to stand, walk around while holding on to things like our ottoman, wave, clap, say "dadda", drink from a sippy cup, and feed herself finger food. It has been so fun to watch all of this unfold before my eyes, but I can't help wanting her to SLOW DOWN and stay little! I'm not ready to be a mommy of a toddler :(  One thing that hasn't changed is her schedule. She is definitely eating a lot more at each solid feeding but still takes 2 naps a day and sleeps about 10+ hours a night, thankyoujesus. She is also becoming more aware of her surroundings and people and tends to be a little clingier to me when introduced to someone new.  She is still a very happy and mostly content baby and we are so grateful for her 'pleasant' spirit (Naomi means pleasant). We just love her to pieces!

Sitting, Scooting, Eating and More!

A lot has happened these past couple of months! I'm a bit scatter-brained when it comes to writing, so bear with me!  Naomi can now sit up all by herself for a long time!  She will sit and play with her toys and daddy loves getting down in the floor to play with her. A couple of weeks ago she also started scooting, er, army crawling! It's hilarious to watch her go after her toys and it's only a matter of time before she can full-on crawl...yikes!  One more thing she started doing while the grandparents were here visiting was calling out "Mama" when she was crying.  I couldn't believe it when I first heard her, because really, the child is only 6 months old, but then it kept happening and we got it on video!  It totally makes my heart melt, even if she only says it when she's whining :)

A couple weeks ago we had visitors for a week straight, which was really hard on her during the night.  I think there was only one night that she actually slept all night.  Needless to say, we were all exhausted by the end of the week, but also so glad our families got to come see us! While my mom, sisters, and cousins were here, we went shopping at the outlet mall one day and had Kenzie's wedding shower and bachelorette party the next.  Matt's parents and sister came and stayed the next week and we got to take Naomi swimming for the first time in an indoor pool! She loooved it and splashed around and kicked almost the whole time. So cute!

At her 6 month check-up she weighed 14lbs. 8 oz. (19%) and was 27" long (88%).  She is long and lean, but a healthy, happy girl! We also started solids a little over a month ago and it has been so fun! She is a GREAT eater so far, unlike her momma :) We went from rice cereal to oatmeal, avocados, sweet potatoes, bananas, carrots, and now green beans. She has loved everything (if I add enough breast milk to it)! HA! At the beginning, I tried making my own rice cereal and she HATED it! We have a hilarious video documenting that! But everything else she's eaten like a champ. I'm hoping she inherited Matt's wide variety of tastes for foods and not my pickiness :)  She is still on a great schedule, waking at around 7am and going to bed for the night around 9pm, takes pretty good 1-2hr naps, and sleeps all night!  We love her to pieces and couldn't have asked for a better, happier baby girl.

And now for the big news...we are moving back to TULSA!  What?!?  Yes, you read that right.  Matt accepted a position with a company called Airgas where he will be the Master Data Supervisor.  Sounds important, right?! :)  Ever since his MBA he's been wanting a business job using his financial, accounting, marketing and analysis skills and this opportunity presented itself a while ago.  So after months of talking with them, they finally made an offer.  When he first talked with Airgas, we really didn't expect anything to happen, and honestly, we were completely ok with that.  Then, when the offer was made, we took several days to think through, pray, and seek wise counsel to make sure there weren't any red flags.  I will say that this has been one of the hardest decisions we have made thus far in our married life.  We absolutely LOVE the area we are in right now, have just started to really get involved in our church, and have met some great friends that have made Lewisville feel like 'home' to us.  So, this move is extremely bittersweet.  Some of the 'sweet' things that await us in Tulsa are free babysitters ANY TIME, our 2nd family is only 1 hour away :), Matt's actual working hours will probably be significantly less than what they have been, he will actually be able to have weekends free and vacation, and the job is downtown. In a high rise. Where he'll even get to wear a suit and tie to work. Literally, his dream.  So, obviously there are some nerves here and then all the things to think about and do that go into moving across states. AGAIN. Ugh. So, maybe I'll update in a couple months?? HA, we'll see :)

I LOVE my J-O-B + Random Update

That's right. I LOVE being a stay at home mommy.  There is absolutely nothing in the world I would rather be doing all day every day than raising my precious girl.  I'm so grateful for my husband, who not only shares this mentality, but works very hard to make it a priority.

The past month or so was kind of crazy.  We were in Tulsa for a few days after Thanksgiving visiting family. The next week I came back home for a family situation and ended up staying a couple nights. On Dec. 11, at our new church, we dedicated Naomi to the Lord.  Matt's parents and my mom got to come to the service and I'm so glad they were there.  The night before, Matt got really sick, so even though he managed to drag himself out of bed and to church, that was about all we saw of him the rest of the day, poor guy! Luckily it was only a 24 hour bug and no one else got sick.  My mom stayed with us for a few days and we had our little Christmas with her.  The next weekend was CRAZY.  We had planned to just go to Edmond to meet up with Matt's family Christmas day and then drive home that night since Matt's store was only closed that day.  Well, Matt ended up being able to take off almost 3 days of work so we drove up to Sara's Christmas Eve eve, stayed the night with her, got up the next morning and drove to Tulsa to surprise Matt's grandparents and mom and dad to have Christmas Eve with that side of his family, then drove back to Edmond that night, got up the next morning and had Christmas at Sara's house (Matt's brother and parents drove over early that morning), then that afternoon we drove back to Tulsa to surprise both my dad's side and mom.  We stayed at Matt's parents house that night and went to his cousin's the next day so Matt could see family that had come in from out of town.  Matt had to go back home that day, but I got to stay in town and see a couple of my best friends that I hadn't seen in while.  A couple days later, my dad and sister drove me back home and stayed with us for a couple of days and then my friend Lauren and her baby, Wesley, came and visited.  It was so good to see her and meet her sweet little boy!  And it was so cute to see him and Naomi together.  It was a busy week, but I'm so glad it all worked out for us to see all our family and friends.  And as much as I love the holidays and seeing everyone, I'm glad the hustle and bustle is all over and things have settled back down into routine again.  I thrive on routine. :)

Naomi is now 'talking' to us, or the air, or her animal friends.  It's so cute!  She just coos and coos, even when no one is watching.  She is sleeping great through the night (even though last week she had a growth spurt and was up several times a night several nights..ugh!) and a few weeks ago, I dropped the late evening feeding.  She gets anywhere between 1-2 hour naps during the day and has been going down great without crying! She's on a good 3-4 hour schedule now too.  One bad thing is that she has started to hate being in her car seat unless she's moving.  She'll start to get really fussy if she has to sit still for very long at all.  I hope this is just a phase!  She's also been drooling like crazy.  People keep saying that it's a sign of teething, but I haven't felt any yet.

I've started to go through her closet and clean out all the clothes she can't fit into anymore and let's just say I may or may not have cried about it.  I can't believe how fast time is flying and how fast she is growing!  I know everyone says that, but it really is true.  I'm so thankful for all the videos and pictures that we've taken since the day she was born to look back on.  Here's some recent shots:

Pretty sure that last post was supposed to be scheduled to post itself, but it didn't...Anyway, waaaaay behind on blogging here!  Here's an update of random things I remember from the last couple of months since you are now 3 months old! Geez, time flies!

Ok, so from the get go breastfeeding was so incredibly hard and frustrating!  But your mom is as stubborn as a mule and was determined to make it work.  Also, I'm cheap and my boobs are free, so there.  At about 6 weeks old, you and I finally got it down and you've been great ever since...except that you take anywhere from 45 mins to 1 hour to eat! Talk about a S  L  O  W  eater!

When you were about 1 month old, you started making a really weird noise one night after you ate and it sounded like you were gasping for air (which you were) and it made you upset (obviously, it would me too!) and by getting upset, it got worse.  Your dad and I about had a panic attack and rushed you to the ER.  After the doctors checked you out, you got a cat scan (because your awesome mom let you roll off our make shift changing station on top of our coffee table a couple days earlier so they thought maybe you had swelling in your brain which could cause breathing problems).  The cat scan came back negative for swelling and the chest x-rays showed no sign of a collapsed lung or any other problems, so you were diagnosed with trachea malaysia, which basically means that your trachea collapses in on itself sometimes causing your airway to be small and makes it hard for you to breathe. Awesome. The doctor told us that you will grow out of it by the time you're a toddler and to just watch it and make sure your lips don't turn blue. Double awesome. Other than that, you are a healthy and happy girl!

At your 2 month check up you were 11 lbs and 2 oz. and 23 3/4 in. long.  Still pretty long for your age. You've been eating well and we get in about 5-6 feedings per day.  You started sleeping through the night consistently just a couple weeks ago and it's been great :)  Your daddy and me know exactly what to do to get a smile out of you, and we can't get enough of em'!  You are your happiest right after you eat (go figure, me too) and so getting you to smile is easy.  Last week, while you were sleeping, you laughed for the first time! It happened so fast but it was too cute! Your daddy and I can't wait till you start laughing at us!

In clothes, you're in size 0-3months or 3 months right now.  I think we've only bought you 1 outfit since your Grandmas keep your closet stocked full.  Every time they come see you or we go see them, you get something new.  I can't blame them.  It's hard not to buy cute outfits for you!  But instead, mommy makes the cute headbands to go with the outfits :)

You really are such a good baby!  You only really cry when you're hungry or when I lay you down for a nap sometimes.  If I make you wait too long to eat, you scream your head off :)  We started doing 'tummy time' after you were about 6 weeks old and you've gotten really good at it!  Then you started rolling from your tummy to your side, and last week, rolled all the way over from tummy to back! I even got it on video :)  Speaking of video, I don't think 1 day has gone by that your life hasn't been documented by video or picture.  We, and all your crazy family, are absolutely head over heels in love with you.  I wake up each morning so thankful I get to be your momma, and your daddy is just as in love with you as I am.  Almost daily he stops to stare at you and says, "Isn't she just the most precious thing ever?!" And, of course, I agree.  You are so precious and beautiful, just look!

The next few are all random...

We love you so much, Naomi Claire.  You are such an incredible gift from God.  We get the privilege of raising you and hope to instill in you the faith in God that your daddy and I have.  He gave you to us so that we could teach you about Him.  We pray for you daily that He would call you to Himself one day and that you would live your life following after Him.

Newborn Photos

So, since I'm also an aspiring photographer, I COULD NOT WAIT to get my camera on my new baby girl. It wasn't until she was about 10 days old that I started trying to do the normal newborn photoshoot setup and all.  That first week I had been extremely weepy and emotional, was still pretty sore from surgery, and still getting used to this new taking-over-my-life feeding schedule we were on.  When I finally did start trying to take photos of her, she kept waking up and fussing.  Normally, she had been sleeping pretty much all day long, but of course not when I try to take her picture :)  Here are a few of my favorites:
